Cold Forged Heat Sink

Cold forging is a process for shaping and forming profiles below their recrystallization temperature, typically at room temperature. This method is primarily used with materials that have low deformation resistance and good plasticity at room temperature, such as aluminum, copper, and their respective alloys. Cold forging can induce work hardening (strain hardening) in the material, increasing its strength and hardness.

Heat sink manufacturers widely utilize the cold forging process for producing light source heat sinks and LED heat sinks. Lori Thermal was among the pioneers in manufacturing cold forged radiators and has amassed extensive experience in this technique. Beyond producing standard light source heat sinks, Lori Thermal has developed advanced technology for manufacturing high-power cold forged heat sinks. This technology addresses issues such as the poor thermal conductivity of die-cast micro-channels and the high costs associated with machined micro-channels. It is now being applied to water-cooling solutions for high-voltage frequency converters, wind power converters, and motor controllers.
